He served in the U.S. Army as a Special Forces member, specifically a Green Beret, with a long military career starting in 2006. His roles included communications specialist, intelligence and operations specialist, operations manager, and team sergeant, eventually becoming a Remote and Autonomous Systems Manager. His service included multiple deployments, notably twice to Afghanistan, and also to countries like Ukraine, Tajikistan, Georgia, and Congo.

Livelsberger received several commendations, including two Bronze Stars with one having a valor device, a combat infantry badge, and an Army Commendation Medal with valor. He was reportedly married, with his wife, possibly named Sara Livelsberger, having anti-Trump sentiments expressed on social media, although it's not confirmed if she was his current wife at the time of the incident. They had at least one child together, a baby daughter. There were reports of marital issues, including allegations of infidelity, leading to a breakup days before the explosion.

Livelsberger rented the Cybertruck via Turo and drove from Colorado to Las Vegas. The explosion was filled with fireworks, gas canisters, and camping fuel, leading to an investigation for possible terrorism. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound before the explosion.
