Amelia Earhart (1897–1937) was an American aviation pioneer and author. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932, a feat that earned her international recognition and awards. Earhart set numerous records in aviation and worked to advance opportunities for women in the field. In 1937, during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe, her plane disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean. Despite extensive search efforts, neither Earhart nor her aircraft was ever found, and her disappearance remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in aviation history. There are promising leads and theories, but no definitive proof.
