Understanding your sidereal astrology birth chart is easier than you think. When compared to Tropical or Western Astrology, Sidereal has a unique relationship to the sky. Unlike Tropical systems that determine a personality type based on the seasons, sidereal systems are aligned with the fixed stars. This matters because when the zodiac was created, the meaning of the signs aligned with the meaning of the fixed stars. The signs have never moved. However, our perspective from Earth has, so when all of astrology aligned with the stars and the seasons, it all worked out. However, over thousands of years, the Earth's orbit and rotation have shifted, and now the Tropical signs associated with the seasons no longer align with the fixed stars. Now, we must specify which zodiac we are referencing, because although the Sideral continues to align with the actual sky above us, the tropical zodiac has never adjusted; therefore, its signs are aligned to a metaphorical sky. I think that if you are going to study astrology, it should align with the current positions of the planets.

How to Read a Sidereal Birth Chart
The North Indian style birth chart is comprised of 12 houses. Starting with the top diamond in the center and moving counterclockwise. Depending on what your ascendant is, the sign that will be in which house is determined.
In this chart, Aires is in the first house, Taurus in the 2nd, Gemini in the 3rd, and so on, all the way to Pisces in the 12th house. This is the original placement of the houses.
Each house represents an aspect(s) of your life. Each zodiac sign flavors the house that it is sitting in. Scorpio ascendants will have Scorpio in the 1st house and Taurus in the 7th. Cancer ascendant will have Cancer in the first house and Capricorn in the 7th, etc.
As you can see, the ascendant creates the entire basis of the chart.
In addition to the zodiac signs, planets also live in different houses depending on your birth time.
In the chart below, you can see that the Moon is in the 2nd house of Capricorn (10) and the Sun is in the 7th house of Gemini (3). Remember that the small number on a chart is the zodiac sign. The house positions never change.
